Bloggers up for bid: Spreading love to those in need!

A TOAST FOR CHARITY: Bloggers and bidder enjoying a sumptuous dinner for Valentine's day, at the same time helping to raise donations and spreading the love to children in need.

How would it be like if you could “buy” your favourite blogger as your Valentine’s Day date, and enjoy a sumptuous and romantic candlelit dinner with him or her in a high class restaurant?

Fret not. We are not referring to the recent online escort scandals or anything sleazy for that matter. We are talking about a legal and meaningful charity auction that puts bloggers up for auction in a bid to raise funds for the Spastic Children’s Association of Singapore.

10 bloggers gamely accepted the invitation to put themselves up for this unique auction organized by omy.sg and auction site SOLD.sg, and over a 3-day period, waited anxiously waited for their highest bidder to “win them” for a dinner date!

All dressed-up and butterflies fluttering in the stomach, the 10 bloggers arrived at Italian Restaurant Limoncello on 16 February, eager to meet their winning bidder/mysterious date for the night.

Over the dinner date, bloggers and bidders exchanged introductions, casual banter, and some even presented their dates with thoughtful gifts!

Bidder Woo Yong Keong spent nearly all his online bidding tokens to win the dinner date with lifestyle blogger Joanne-Marie, forking out a total of $231.45 at the end of the auction period. With Yong Keong’s determined bidding, Joanne-Marie was “bought” at the highest bidding price among the 10 participating bloggers.

“I’m really honored and surprised. When I first agreed to join the auction, I was still wondering who would pay to date me. But I still joined anyway because it was for charity”, said smiley Joanne-Marie humbly when asked about her thoughts on being the “highest bid price” blogger.

Meanwhile, one other blogger had a surprise waiting, as his winning bidder turned out to be an old friend he has not met in years. Turning up with a sexy black shirt and a cute little red bowtie, food blogger Daniel Ang presented his date Esther Ong with a bunch of red roses, making this long-lost friend blush in shyness.
